The African American Image in Film Online
African Americans established a rich history in the cinema industry in front of and behind the camera. The stories told through their work and performances weave an intricate narrative of their experiences and the American culture's and Hollywood's impact and gaze. From its infancy to current times, African Americans have played an influential role in the film industry. This presentation highlights the social and cultural landscape, and the work of groundbreaking actors, actresses, screenwriters and filmmakers who have helped to shape the images and stories presented on the big screen. Presenters: Renee Thomas Woods, Ph.D., STLCC Associate Professor of Communication and Mass Communications and Cathy Reilly, M.A.; M.L.S., STLCC Professor Emeritus, Library Services.
